Okay! So it has been a hot minute since I posted anything and tonight I decided to make homemade pizza. This recipe is ideal for a family of more than just 2 people but at least we have leftovers! I highly recommend this to any pizza lovers! I almost made chef boyardee but decided to go all in with this! Also, I made a sauceless tomato mozzarella pizza and a super cheesy pepperoni pizza. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- Toppings of your choice
Instructions:
- In bowl of stand mixer, combine water, sugar, and yeast and stir. Allow mixture to sit for about 10 minutes (mixture should be frothy)
- Add in the vegetable oil and salt.
- Measure out flour and begin adding it to the mixer bowl a half cup at a time with the dough hook attachment. It will be very sticky but make sure you scrape sides and incorporate any remaining flour.
- Grease a large bowl with olive oil and scrape the dough into the bowl. Turn dough around to fully coat and then cover with plastic wrap and let set at room temperature for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 475 degrees. If you’re using a pizza stone, make sure to put it in before heating so it gets hot while it heats.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Pull the dough around the bottom and create a smooth ball. Cut the dough into 3 equal portions. (1 portion per pizza)
- Roll out the dough, sprinkling with more flour to prevent sticking.
- If using a Pizza stone, sprinkle a little cornmeal on top before placing the dough on it. For pans you can use parchment paper and sprinkle cornmeal on it as well.
- After dough has been shaped and transferred to the pan or stone, add toppings. Bake until crust is golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
For my first pizza brushed the crust liberally with olive oil and placed tomato slices all around it. Then I added some minced garlic and sprinkled it around. Cover with mozzarella cheese (I did some shredded but also used a block and put slices on it. Finally, I topped with Italian seasonings, sea salt, and then drizzled with olive oil when it came out of the oven.

For the second pizza, I made a classic pepperoni pizza. Started by covering the dough with pizza sauce, leaving about an inch to the edge. Sprinkle with minced garlic and then cover with shredded cheese (I used the mexican blend). Add pepperoni on top of the cheese and then sprinkle a little more cheese on top of that. Finally, sprinkle with Italian seasonings and sea salt.
